As you can see above we have some exciting news regarding one of our classic titles. Starting today, March 1st, you can pre-order a copy of the upcoming Betrayal at House on the Hill 3^rd Edition, due out in early April 2022.

Betrayal at House on the Hill was first published back in 2004 and quickly became a fan-favorite, being recognized with an award at a prominent board game festival in 2005. Board gaming in the US wasn’t as popular in the aughts as they are now, but Betrayal at House on the Hill managed to stand out in the growing hobby. So, in 2010 a second edition was created to keep up with the rapidly expanding industry. With original artwork and updated gameplay, the beloved horror game was able to reach an even bigger audience - helped in part by a featured appearance on a popular web series which featured celebrities playing through popular board games.

With more fans than ever, an expansion titled Widow’s Walk was released in 2016.  The next year saw the launch of a rethemed version, Betrayal at Baldur’s Gate, set in the titular Forgotten Realms city well known to fans of Dungeons & Dragons. And finally in 2018 Betrayal Legacy was released, adapting the core mechanics of Betrayal into a Legacy style game that players could play as a campaign. 

But throughout those 12 years, the core Betrayal at House on the Hill remained unchanged. We at Avalon Hill felt it was time for this classic game of treachery and terror to be re-introduced to board gaming fans old and new! 

We’re excited for this third edition and over the coming weeks we plan to give you a closer look at the game, including what makes this edition stand out from the previous. For now, we’ll just tease you with the knowledge that this third edition features fifty original haunts!
